Save strokes around the green with a comprehensive 4-hour short game school. Schools are limited to 4 participants to ensure plenty of individual instruction. The low trajectory bump and run pitch is the most popular short game shot on the PGA Tour. Learn how to play this essential shot correctly. Need to hit a higher, softer shot over a bunker to a front pin? This shot will be covered. Does your sand play need improvement? An in-depth approach to hitting bunker shots from both soft sand and firm/hard pan will be discussed. These schools are 4-hours long so there is plenty of practice time to go along with the instruction. A video analysis (before and after) is included along with Paul's book on the short game. There is no need to try to remember everything (and there is a lot of detail). It will all be in the book and covered in the video review.
I am looking for golfers who are at least bogey or better for these short game schools. If you are a player that is new to the game or double bogey or worse, there is a place for you but I would want to match you up with players of similar skill level.
Testimonials:
Mike Carson - "Paul was a great instructor. He was able to quickly get me making solid contact and predictable ball flight on a variety of short game shots. His teaching style was respectful and he has a great way of encouraging and uplifting me. I went away knowing what I needed to do to get better. In one week I have holed out twice from off the green and had several near misses. I highly recommend Paul's half day course for a lifetime of much improved play around the greens."
Jake Blair (Utah Section Teacher of the Year 2023) - "Unbelievable with the delivery of information."
Aaron Goodman (Utah PGA Executive Staff) - "Excellent teacher. He got me hitting those nippy spinners. I've never been able to hit that shot before."
Ed Peterson - "I love working with Paul. He knows his stuff and in one hour he had me chipping and pitching the ball better than I ever have in my life. I like that he is simple to understand and he teaches great drills. I highly recommend Paul to any golfer who wants to get better."
Kevin Blalock - "Paul was absolutely fantastic at explaining and demonstrating both small and big fixes for my short game. The follow up videos with additional tips and observations have been incredibly helpful and I review them frequently."
Lessons with Paul Phillips (Utah Section PGA Teacher of the Year 2022)
Paul is a PGA Professional (member since 1997) who specializes in teaching the short game (putting, chipping, pitching and bunker play). A competitive player, Paul has qualified for the National Senior PGA twice and the National Assistants Championship once. He is annually ranked as one of the best senior players in Utah. Paul worked with Parker McLachlin, The Short Game Chef, and has studied the short game in depth from other renown short game instructors including Joseph Mayo and Dan Grieve.
The fundamentals of the short game are very different than the fundamentals of the long game. In the long game we are trying to compress the ball to create speed. In the short game we want the ball to come off much more softly. A great short game requires a skillset to play low trajectory, mid trajectory and high trajectory shots. The technique required is different for all 3 shots. Sand play, pitching from rough and partial wedges under 100 yards round out the areas of the short game you should see Paul for help. Paul's clientele includes several Utah PGA Professionals who have come to see him for help with their own short game technique.
